Could this be because A&S uses fish cuts for shape rather than a side body?

Neither of them sucks.

As to Steed vs. anyone else-- there is a certain amount of luck in finding a cutter who wants you to look the way you want to look. Skill is not the only variable.

Agreed, how many suits should it take to make the proper adjustments? Is this even possible with a traveling tailor given the lack of fittings and turn around time?

Hard to say. I've dealt with some from this side of the Pond very well. But it does help the R&D process to have them see you in London at least once. Then they can nail down your pattern better. But some guys are really very good at reproducing success.

Steed somehow manages to do their traveling stuff with only one fitting, but they are good about managing adjustments later. They had me dialed in with only a couple of jackets. YMMV.
