I got my Brown Shell Strand MTOs back from AE yesterday. They fixed the edge coloring issue and then I asked them to re-run them on the burnishing wheel to fix the pinking that was standing up. A bit better but not perfect, much more tolerable.

Pics later... Got to go out for a bit.

This is more of a preference question, I suppose, but I see a lot of people do MTO's with Leeds. Why not the Kenilworth? Both are PTB's but I feel that the Kenilworth is a much more attractive shape and I hardly see them in this thread, or the AE Appreciation thread. Maybe I'm the one that's off?

To me Leeds look like chunky American style shoes whereas Kenilworth look like sleeker European style shoes. I like my American made shoes in the American style (see also: Alden). You could say the Leeds are blobbier. The choice probably hinges on what kind of clothes you will most likely pair with the shoes.

lol sounds like my environment. I'm also more on the raw denim and chinos but slowly building up the wardrobe to include more.

Pretty much all of my AE are casual or very versatile .. just for this same very casual work environment.

I guess I need to look out for your MTO's more often..

I see your point. Outside of their boots, Aldens shoes all look blobby to me....but, I've got a long, narrow foot so blobby doesn't necessarily work for me.

I would likely wear Kenilworths to work (business casual) and wouldn't pair them with a suit when I need to dress up. The MTO that I'm thinking about would be golden brown CXL with the red Dainite sole. I figure I could also wear them with jeans, as well.

Check page one or two for my Kennie MTO. My fave shoe.

Kenilworth is a derby shoe. Sleek (for AE at least) with three eyelets. Still very dress-up-able.

Leeds is a classic, all-American blucher shit- kicker. Not a dress shoe in the slightest.

Has anyone inquired about the availability of any blue leather? Just wondering what might available. I kinda like the weybridge blue but its a print grain.

They have blue distressed cowhide, blue calf and blue suede. Well, the last two really are dark navy. Someone posted a stunning navy calf blucher boot (eagle county) several pages back.

Ah yes, I forgot about those boots. I'll have to go back and take a look. the distressed like the neumok is probably a bit to casual.

Ah good to know and I e-mailed Allison over the weekend about this issue. She got back to me today and I'm sending them back for her to show to the QC team and to get it fixed. Allison's great but it's a shame this is the second time I've had to send these back.

Has anyone done an MTO of the Rutledge in shell (brown or burgundy)? I love the Rutledge generally and am in need of another dark brown or burgundy shoe to bolster my collection. The Rutledge in brown burnished calf would be an alternative, but I think I'd be more interested in the shell.

Also, I think this question has been answered before, but is AE unable to offer the 3 lasted shoes in C width (I'm a 14C) on the MTOs? I know looking through the AE website they don't appear to carry C widths on any of the 3 last shoes so assume that's a no go even on an MTO. I have the Walnut Harrison in 14D, which is a little wide in the heel area and maybe a touch long, as well, so would also be interested in thoughts on sizing down to a 13D on this last since it is longer than most of AE's other lasts (type of leather may play into this as well, since the Independence calf is so soft and flexible it may be accentuating the feeling of width in the Harrison I have).

You can always email Allison and ask if the three last can be made in C width. 3E isn't a width normally offered and she said it was fine when I requested it on the 5 last

I remembered that someone had MTO'd a pair a while back so I found this (not my listing)

Not sure if he's still selling these, but cappuccino is no longer available and looks like it's a 13D.

I'm a 3E, and I've found it available in my length (10.5) in almost every shoe in every line.
