It happened so quickly (2nd wear) that I was caught off guard by the amount of leather that had been chewed away in 11 total hours of wear. I still want to "fill in" the now white spots of leather created by the eyelets - when I unlace them, I get...grimey.
Was there a bit before 6, disappointed in the shoes they had on display for the trunk show, but couldn't resist the natural and ordered a pair of Patriots.
My brown gain ECs got the same thing going only after the first wear. I will file them before getting worn again.
Thanks kahuna! My wife can't believe I have 4 boots that look the "same". She said she's gonna email Paul and ban me for life.
Thanks for the photos NW!
The natural shell is gorgeous! It's darker than I thought which I like. Can't wait for my natural shell leeds.
Are you a type 1 or 2? I've been a type 1 since age 5. Shoe addiction is a good motivator to stay in good health!
Ditto, but it's not too bad yet. Will give them the file treatment and see how it goes. I assume the goal is to get the inner part of the eyelet flush with the outer brass ring?
Just sharing another MTO I made in 2013 that I only managed to receive recently. My navy suede Graysons
Notice the sole says genuine Horween shell cordovan even though it's in suede hehe.

How are you guys sizing the first avenue? I went with my true brannock size with the independence insole and lining but I am not sure if that's the right size or not.
These are perfect! Nicely done
So who was calling in an order to the Atlanta store for the natural 1st Ave? I was there when the manager was discussing it with a SA and it sounded like a SF makeup.
Also they had a 7 3E Walnut Shell Dalton on display. Not sure where they got it in from but its def. been somewhere for a while. The eyelets were starting to patina if you will.
Good question. That is mainly the reason I did not order it at the trunk show last night. I wasn't ready to gamble on a non-returnable SMU.
That and I have a few shoes in production elsewhere. haha
What did you end up getting?
@watchidiot I'm so jealous of your MTO collection, especially as you got the bulk of those sans upcharge.
Without the wheeling and fudging, AE shoes can look pretty damn sleek on some lasts. I don't get the love affair with all the extra crap added on the outside of the shoe that makes them look comically large.
