Since starting this thread, nothing has changed, and I haven't honestly made an attempt at meeting women. I
am straight edge, so I tend to avoid clubs and bars, which makes it even harder. And I always find it hard to approach women at coffee shops because people there seem busy and aren't necessarily looking to be hit
on. And then there are meetup.com groups, which I think are great for 40 year olds who are newly single or
just looking to interact with other, but not so much for guys who are mid-20's, single, straight edge, and quite nerdy.

Hmm, I met lots of women in it when I was in my 20s (I'm 34 now). Maybe it's not popular in there.

By removing bars/clubs from your life you filter out one of, if not the most common place for 20-somethings to congregate outside of work. Straight edge is bullshit, anyhow. You're an adult.

These two together. You might end up with Neo. Or de Seingalt. Both, if not gorgeous, at least distinguished looking.

My hobbies are powerlifting, computers, statistics (I'll often get home from work and analyze fun data, and blog about it). I also
like fashion, eating out, and have recently gotten into cooking.

fwiw, women are always receptive, to the right guy. A non-comprehensive list of places where it's easy to talk to women (if a particular woman doesn't want to talk, just move on. It's not like you're married to her:)

The street (seriously, all hooker jokes aside)
    The gym
    In line for coffee
That little table where the milk and cream is at, at the coffee place
    The Apple Store
Any outdoor cafe (actually, come to think of it, this is the place where most women have approached me)
The bus (come to think of it, this is where I've gotten the most passes from what must have been gay men)
Airplanes (only works if you are actually both going to the same final destination)
The front desk of a hotel
Fashion event (point at a guy and say "He looks sorta douchey, doesn't he?")
In line for a late night taco (although, seeing that you don't go out, it would be sort of artificial)
At a farmer's market (caress the baguette.)
    A wedding
    A bookstore
    A library

Also, don't be straight edge. It's cool to not want to go to bars and clubs. It's cool to not drink, if that's not your thing. But it's not cool to adhere to some code based off a Minor Threat song.

So what's your excuse for being straight edge?

Have you tried meeting chicks at church? That's a demographic with easy picking for a religious guy.

Don't straight edge kids usually abstain from sex also? I could be mistaken because as a man who enjoys his booze and recreational drugs (at least in the past), I never hung around any SE people.

Powerlifting is out, are computers. Stats could be sorta interesting, but iffy. Eating out and cooking, perfect. Go take a cooking class.

Perhaps I should clarify the straight edge part. I do not drink, smoke, or do drugs (anymore to all three). I hate hardcore music and am not part
of the "straight edge scene". I just call myself straight edge because most people know what it entails.

Some do, but most people just abstain from sexual promiscuity and sleeping around.
