It has been officially teased on the Facebook group, so I’ll share it.

Natural hatch grain (ballsack) shell cordovan will be one of the new materials for the trunk show this year. And to boot… the show is coming in July this year.

Any deets on style options?

Also: I may have to resurrect my fake magazine covers for ballsack shell.

I only know of one style, and it is either a special makeup or this event or a new product they are going to release later this year. I would assume the usual suspects will be included as well, though.

This would be pretty awesome. I'm not sure what style I'd get though. Maybe try the St. John's if it were an option? Liverpool if that was ever a choice (although I'm pretty sure they stated they wouldn't do this years ago). I like the material, so now it just depends on the style options. This could get me back from my long AE hiatus.

I love how the TS brings people out of hiding.

Also, if anyone needs trees, Amazon has a 2 for 45$ on Woodlore trees (direct from Woodlore store). I ordered some trees this weekend.

I'm looking for a good deal on the Woodlore shoe rack

Shoe trees are one of those things that reminds me how bad inflation is. I remember getting basic shoe trees for 10-12 a piece back in 2018ish.

I shouted a loud profanity just now. Fortunately the house is empty. That'd look amazing on a Higgin's Mill.

If the Park Ave derby (or something similar) is offered I'll have some hard choices to make.
I think you're absolutely right about the HM make-up with that material! I may pull the trigger on one!

Tell me about it. I was thinking this weekend, "since when did it change to $60 for two of them?" Nordstrom rack sometimes has those really cheap ones that have no logo that are also made from Woodlore. I might go that route.

It’s bad, but Woodlore trees on Amazon are 45 bucks for 2 (22.50 a pair). Still nuts given the same trees were 15 bucks a pair 6 years ago (in a 2 pack).

From what the guys at Woodlore implied, cedar wood is starting to become expensive, and only getting more expensive as the supply dwindles. A lot of the cedar farms they traditionally used have stopped bothering with cedar since it can't be logged with much automation, and there just isn't a ton of demand for it in general. All of the cedar trees are still cut by hand instead of machine due to the shape of the trees.

They also said that the shoe trees are sent to different customers based on their criteria for 'quality' of the wood. For example, AE only accepts trees that use 80% or higher percentage of heartwood (the red smelly part). If it has more than 20% of the white colored sapwood, then it gets sent to Nordstrom Rack, for example. That is why the AE branded shoe trees cost more and also why they smell better.

Heh. Didn’t actually come for this (or care)! 🤣

I did come to say I bought a pair of non AE loafers…my first new pair of luxery shoes since 2021. I dare you to guess the maker.
