Haven't given up on the Daltons, yet. Still have some hope for them.

Under my desk shot of black marbled Strands. Such a shame that this was a one and done. I sometimes regret not getting a Higgins.

Let's hope AE continues the Shell Trunk Shows and brings back the customizable welt type and edge colors. I'm sure they'll bring back marbled shell to give long-time enthusiasts something different so they can continue to participate.

You don’t need a Trunk Show anymore. But are you willing to pay $950? I would need to see quality improvement.

AE is just starting with their own made-to-order footwear. TLB Mallorca and Carmina already a few steps ahead of AE. The other two brands have different lasts and large selection of material to choose from. $950 for Horween shell cordovan is the new reality. This price is still lower than a handwelted and handlasted pair of Horween shell cordovan. So in my opinion, $950 for a gemming made pair of shoes (not handwelted and handlasted) is a good deal for shoe enthusiast. You can afford it. :)

The appeal of a trunk show is also the fact they waive the custom make-up fee, so the shoes would technically be retail and not like the MTO program they're doing. Welt/edge changes and sole changes won't cost more than their stock offerings during a TS.

If $950 for cordovan loafers made by a company having more and more QC issues brought to light (or rather a more "that'll do" mentality when letting shoes through that many in this very thread have discussed is unsat) is the new reality, why are they $125-$200 less to get Horween cordovan loafers from Carmina, which has arguably much better QC and lets far fewer questionable to "immediately no" shoes through? ;)

Seems like the investment bankers are still looking for a way to capitalize on their mahooooossive purchase and shocked they aren't billionaires by now.....
