Well, this is my third store to close in about as many years... Charleston, the outlet in NC, and now Nashville. Running out of options in the Southeast. Haggaikiah, Mylan, and Harold were all great to work with. I hope they all land somewhere well in 2025.

I'm caught by surprise with this. I wonder why that location is struggling? I would have thought that Nashville would be pretty popular for AE. AE opened a new store in Los Angeles this year, so I assumed things were overall okay.

Trying to resist the urge to buy a snuff suede Freeport to go along with my Natty one... it is just such a comfortable boot and the snuff is a beautiful bourbon color... but I just bought 3 new pairs...

Just picked up a pair of (seemingly pretty lightly worn) vintage MacNeils... anxiously awaiting their arrival

Honestly… just get it lol. The Freeport is such a good boot and the brown suede vs natty leather is enough of a difference to be two very different looking boots.

If I weren’t on a spending hiatus, I would have picked up the caper suede Freeport.

Pictures of my recently received F2 Freeports in natty shell. As far as I can tell the defect is the lining in both boots- pictured. If that actually manages to effect anything I’ll have it redone and resole to something more robust. The price on these was just too good.

It is not just pure sales. Available locations and lease costs are the main drivers. AE is not even seen as a luxury brand. There are malls in Chicago that don’t want AE. The AE closest to my home isn’t even in a traditional mall. Just a small strip mall that charges a fraction of what Oak Brook Mall charges. Nashville has seen a rise in population and maybe the cost of retail space is just too stupid for AE to consider continuing. At least for now.

That makes sense. I know that the Century City location in west LA must cost a lot to keep. I assume they get a lot of business at that location from people in high income jobs. AE may not be a luxury brand, but they will always be luxery to some of us.
