I'm wearing the "spaceship" as I used to call them. After wearing Grant Stone boots, these don't seem so difficult to wear anymore. They do slip in the heel a lot because they laces come untied a lot, but I have no regrets paying $76 for these when they were on clearance.

You can let the heal fit being adjusted by a cobbler. I have done the same with some of my shoes, which I purchased too large, and it works perfectly. The cobbler opens the inner lining at the heal and stiches into it a cushion of leather between the heal counter and the inner lining. Then he closes the inner lining, stiching it again, and the leather cushion presses gently against your upper heal and thus avoids heel slipping.

The same adjustment is possible with the tongue, adding a lether cushion between the outer leather and the inner lining by stichting it in. Also insoles made of vegano leather and cork can be added to reduce the overall volume, particular forefoot volume, of the shoe to reduce creasing with narrow and/or flat feet and slipping in the shoe.

Enjoy your weekend and best regards

Does the ShoeBank typically run a Labor Day sale? I know the extra 20% off promotions are fairly common. I have a trip to Wisconsin coming up the last week of August and I'm hoping to drop by the Shoe Bank while I'm there. Sad it's probably too soon for them to have 2024 trunk show seconds in stock but you never know.
