Testicle scan ?

Hi people,

Don´t really know if I should go to a health forum for this kind of thing but judging by people posts on the here, some people seem to know what they are talking about. Anyway I was just wondering if anybody has taken testicle scans and how they work? I know a few facts regarding testicular cancer being one of the most common for men, which makes me slightly more anxious. I had a slight feel during a shower recently (as one would do

) and I felt what I believe were small lumps around the testicles. Should I just be cautious and find a clinic ?

Doctor will "palpitate" you balls. (He'll feel around to see if he feels anything abnormal). Then depending on how worried you are and how much money you have (or your insurance) he might send you for an ultrasound scan.

It's just like a baby ultra-sound. You lie there, they rub a wand over your body, and the images show up on the screen. It's quite simple (for them) to then see if there is anything abnormal.

They can also do a blood test to see if there are any pre-cursors (right word?) or indicators of cancer in your blood. (PSA Test)

It's all simple, but costs $.

Unless the lumps are pebble hard, it's unlikely anything is wrong. I heard an MD say this. But go ahead and have a doctor take a look. Find a female, it'll be more fun that way.

What about potential tumescence? I had a very similar dilemma when I had a physical with a female doctor that was filling in for my usual GP. It was more of a mental challenge than anything else.

I live in the UK so the healthcare is not the same i´m sure i won´t have to pay big bucks for a scan, anyhow when its health thats involved i´m sure most people will be ready to give their fortunes? I´ve got the number to a clinic that specialises in men health i´m going to give them a call tomorrow and book an appointment. Thanks for the advice though people, really good stuff especially a up close scan by a female doctor will solve the problem. HaHa @willpower !

I'd get this checked out, however, I wouldn't be too concerned about the lumps being anything more than benign cysts. I actually was in this situation last year, having discovered two lumps on my right testicle. Fearing the worst, I went to a urologist, expecting to undergo some sort of scan. The urologist examined the area, and as it turned out, the lumps were merely ridges and bumps from my vas deferens, which encapsulates the testicles. Part of the vas deferens, which includes tubes leading to the urethra, is smooth, however, the part which surrounds the testicles can actually be bumpy. Needless to say, I was incredibly relieved.

Were the lumps hard, mobile, or painful? If not, you're likely just feeling your epididymis and confusing it for something more sinister. If they are, or you're still worried, go to a doc. As mentioned, he'll do some palpation(just sort of feel around...shouldn't be too bad) and if he feels anything, he'll do an ultrasound.

no the lumps are not hard in fact its not a lump i would say, its more like a small particle which is external on the testicle. I only feel one for now, but needless to say i will make sure to get it checked out.

Is there one on the other testicle? If so, its unlikely to be malignant.
