1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Hello everyone, We are getting very close to completing the new StyleForum. I wanted to come on here and see if I can get some folks to hop on the new server and try it out - see if you can find any bugs. The new styleforum can be found here: The New StyleForum - Test Server As we discover any bugs or other issues, I will post them in this thread, and probably just edit this post to update them. So watch this thread. LAST UPDATE: 06/24/05 Bug: Passwords did not convert properly, user passwords do not work. (This is caused by a custom crypt function used by the current BB - ikonBoard) Status: It appears the only solution will be to automatically generate new passwords for every user and email them to the addresses that users registered with.

    Looks good.
The search function is much better than the current one.

I registered for another account and posted a test message. It seems to work ok. The interface is nice. (though the blue takes away a little from the red intensity that is the style forum.) [IMG]

I have customized the interface on the board we will be using. This is the test board with no customization except for the gradient images which I colored red. The final version looks much like this one.

Why do messages have to be at least ten words?

    Otherwise, looks great.

BTW, I guess this is your chance to check out the threads in the secret squirrel forum, since I can't get a hold of Dave (linuxpro) to set it private. The moment you've all been waiting for... [IMG]

As I've said before, I like the way vBulletin boards work. I think they have the best search function. I wish there was some way to have that pop up message when you have a message in your PM box though.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to do that.

It's nice and fast. A couple things:

    - I can only see threads that I started in each of the forums. Is there a setting I need to change to view all threads or is that a configuration thing?

    - The "Archive" link at the bottom of the page doesn't seem to do anything.

    - Forum subscriptions don't display new message posts.

Hmm, if I create a new user, I don't have any of those problems. There must have been some issue with the import of my existing user id.

Not sure about that stuff.. the system isn't set up right at the moment and I can't log in to fix things (nor do I really want to fix it all again on this test version right at the moment). If you log out and look around, you can see everything including the archive. Not sure exactly what's wrong...

I found that once I logged in that I could no longer see any threads in any of the forums but Men's Clothing. All other forums showed 0 posts, but each had many posts before i logged in.

    UPDATE: Works Now.

Here I was thinking I can only see 21 topics on my screen instead of the usual 28. Some random issues and thoughts: - If you search for
it ignores the '202' and 'last' because they're either too short or are common words. I guess they do this for performance reasons, but I assure you it's a legitimate search. [IMG] - On the plus side if you search for Gant, you wont get every single post with the word elegant in it. - I can duplicate the other members' issue of only seeing topics I created after logging in as myself. - Existing users can't send receive PMs. - One serious issue: I enabled people to send me emails through the forum. Clicking "Send a message via email to TimelessRider" displays my email address in clear text on the next page. I definitely want people to be able to send me emails, but I don't necessarily want everone to know my email address unless I choose to respond. Hope this helps and keep up the good work.

Does "today's posts" replace "New posts"? If so will it be based on PST or my time? 15 hours time difference are not negligible.

Not sure about the new posts thing. I will check into that. The great thing about vBulletin is that anything it doesn't already have has probably been written as a hack I could install later.
