@TweedyProf I agree re. lots of colors being taupe if it's considered brown-gray, which is what I'd consider it. And on second look at Claghorn's jacket, it is darker or more saturated than the ones I was thinking are great for summer. I would consider the Formosa jacket I posted to be taupe. It looks a lot like the one you just posted. What fabric is that, if you don't mind my asking?

@Mr. Six and @FlyingMonkey , now that you say it, that picture has a bit of a blue cast to it. I've corrected that a somewhat here:

But the contrast to navy may be more clear in this pic of the jacket in question next to a navy jacket (L to R: 0520 fresco, navy finmeresco, dark brown fresco, taupe hopsack). Although this pic, taken at twilight, isn't ideal either.

I wore the brown jacket to one of the Styleforum 10th Anniversary events, and here's a pic (w/ blue jeans), that might be helpful. I really like this original color but also see the appeal of the lighter Slewfoot and DWW versions.

Quit playing. Everyone knows that jacket is grey. Tweedy's and Ian's is green.

    Totally forgot LabelKing was there.

    How close is this?

I've got a navy Finmeresco suit in the works. Hoping it looks that good.

^The blues and the taupe look good to me, but the brown is lighter and more orange than irl. In low light, it looks almost black. Only in bright light do you get little hints of red or orange. A friend of mine would call it "charcoal brown," which is his favorite color. Finmeresco's a great fabric imo.

@TweedyProf , Ah good find. Thanks for the fabric/jacket info. I haven't tried their stuff on in several years, but will when the new store opens here.
My link should be working. It didn't at first, but I ninja-edited it and it works now for me at least.

Got it. That helps and explains why I was seeing blue. At least I was able to manipulate the photo to the point that I could see brown! I feel less crazy.

Appreciate the invite, Tweedy P. Lots of great stuff already.

Looks like I mostly wear white squares in the summer, so not much to see there. And I don't actually wear the light grey linen jcrew suit at all, but since I only currently have four spring/summer jackets I do wear, I put it in here to avoid immediate disqualification and the shame it would bring upon my family.

My thanks to @TweedyProf for his kind invitation.

Let me confess that summer is my least favorite season of the four as far as weather is concerned. Happily, in my line of work I can spend most of it at home. While I have a number of suits and jackets which are seasonless, I’ve decided to go with the four jackets I have which are unambiguously spring or summer, which means at this point I’ll only be posting four (if time permits and the spirit moves me I might add to this later as I’ve probably got a half-dozen or more additional SS ties). As with the F/W thread, I apologize for the poor quality of my Canon point-and-shoot photos.

    (1) In spring I like wearing a light weight shepherd’s check or similarly small checked jacket, probably because it allows me to sustain the illusion that hot weather isn't around the corner.. Ties are a blue linen blend and a green cotton in a grenadine-like weave.

    (2) Hot weather. A half-lined mid-blue linen blend; ties are a seersucker and an orange silk matka.

    (3) All linen jacket. A block-stripe tie and a Shibumi Shantung.

    (4) All linen jacket; ties are a slubby navy stripe and an orange bourette silk.

Academic love those jackets, especially the blue linen blend - who's that by?

I'm with Ac2, in that summer is my least favorite season and my wardrobe's weakest link. That's mitigated by living in a place with an early fall and a long winter/cool spring, but it means that my dedicated warm-weather options are few. I tend to gravitate toward what Ac would call "seasonless" items during the summertime as a result. My submission is therefore "8 ties/4 jackets" rather than "10 ties/5 jackets;" I hope @TweedyProf will permit indulge me.
