Hmm. Interesting. I see your light brown jacket and raise you,
the pedo stache crew:
not particularly Summery, but nuthin' badder than Carlo Barbera for H Lesser plain weave 10.5 oz & Madder
honourary Summer Madder
Not used to seeing a full body image from you. Is that your usual configuration and shape of skirt?
Is this the CB for Lesser that was on eBay? (Not that it matters)
Looks a billion times better in person, I now see.
@sprout Yes, and Yes. Glad I took the plunge on that one.. Ebay's a crapshoot. But this cloth wears like feather-lite suede. Dry as dust and more body than other cloths twice the weight.
My eBay tie search thread. Just the brands I trust. Plenty of other good stuff out there but these have never steered me wrong.
Another, far from taupe
Damn, good find. I should have gone in for that one.
I love Vox's jacket - and indeed the whole combination - however it would be nice to see that picture with rather less saturation. Unless he really has Trump-style orange skin, I suspect the tones are not quite as rich IRL.
Yes, the colors are off. I agree that the pieces are nicely chosen, and again, illustrating what I think (and I suspect @Claghorn would agree) are better summer browns than taupe.
@emptym points out elsewhere this is a brown (the Slewfoot) fresco. I like this fit a lot, but I admit to sometimes being torn regarding darker browns for summer jacketing (I have one posted above). I guess if I could do it, my preference would be for lighter, warmer browns as in the last two pics I posted.
Oh, I meant that Vox's jacket and mine were made of Minnis' then-standard brown fresco, #0518, as mentioned by @poorsod. But I believe Vox later had the Slewfoot one made too.
Personally, I prefer cool colors in spring/summer, like taupe jackets, ice blue shirts, stone pants. Some examples from the internet:
Actually, I prefer cool colors at all times of the year, particularly taupe. It seems very natural to me, like undyed wool or linen. Been thinking about starting an In Praise of Taupe thread... I've even considered dying a pair of snuff suede Alden loafers to something like this:
Currently, they're too orange for me.
Go for it
whoawhoawhoa this jacket is brown fresco? I'm having a blue dress/gold dress moment. That looks completely navy to me.
I think 'taupe' probably covers a huge spectrum, so to speak, if it means "brown-gray". Claghorn's taupe jacket looks almost grey to me (and @Murlsquirl has gotten some joshing regarding a certain Eidos brown jacket he owns which he might post here someday). Dial in more brown and you get some of the ones that you posted which look better to my eyes (the textures in some of those feel clearly summery, especially the linen).
Since I've posted these elements above, I'll post today's fit, a light brown jacket. I really love the visual elements in the tie and its texture. I regret not getting the same tie in green.
I would I feel it to be a stretch to call the jacket taupe but color is a funny thing, isn't it @Mr. Six (and yes, I thought emptym's jacket was navy at first glance too).
Everyone said the same (that it's grey) about the jacket you are wearing now. Six has seen the one you are wearing in person (on Ian), so he should know it's a wheat brown.
Me too. I've opened it on two different computers, changed the brightness, and it still looks completely navy. The contrast to the brown leather strap of the bag seems, well, contrasting... weird.
