Don't need to own one to know they are over-hyped and over-priced and not really all that. Sure, the jackets look stylish, and the concept is a nice, but you're correct there are plenty of other brands out there offering far better quality and value for money

Tbh, you're buying the garments for the brand's design and unique tech fabric. It's basically some tech fabric that's designed for aging (aging tech fabric? I can't imagine it would look good) that has great water repellency but as with all coatings, it'll wear off eventually and you need to reapply it but by that time the jacket will look very aged. Someone should post a 1-2 year old picture of their jacket.

Good stuff! I would really like to see how it ages, it's hard to drop 1.5-2k on a jacket without knowing how it turns out, people are more careful about things that cost less, ex: ToJ jackets

Sorry if anyone's already mentioned this but have you seen how the new ten c rain parka's are identical to the cp company micro kei google jacket minus the googles. I'm gutted as have just seen the ten c in a dark blue colour and I prefer it to the olive/khaki colour that I'd purchased in the cp company jacket

I've since purchased the ten c rain parka. The style and cut are the same as the cp micro kei google jacket but the ten c's material is stiffer.
There is a slight smell that the ten c's have when there brand new but that has gone now. I smelt it straight away when I put the coat on. I think it must be the dying process or it could be the material.
The jackets fantastic, I love that almost industrial feel that this substantial jacket gives you. I'm looking forward to the material softening up a bit but it won't get any proper use till the weather changes abit

to perfectly honest I don't know but would seriously doubt it will correctly.

the alpha industries one you are referring to may fit into your parka but is like a jacket as it buttons on to itself whereas the Ten c liner below does not as it buttons into the jacket.

if you don't mind that there's no harm in giving a go if you can return for free or try an army surplus store for a liner if there's one nearby. let us know how it works out!

How do the felt hoods compare to the shearling hoods? I'm planning on buying a parka with a liner and hood for when it is seriously cold out. Is the felt hood enough or is the shearling worth the extra $400+.

And because I have too much time
shog[1].gif
I went in to shower. 5 seconds front and 5 back. Notice how some parts get darker as they drink water (Right shoulder, from wearing messanger bag, and sleeves from just lots of movement) and some stay dry even against a moderate amount of water pressure (below pockets and triceps). Interestingly, the hood was the most water proof-y part of the outer surface, confirming my hunch that surface friction is what is causing the loss of water resistance.

@ceoceo , care to give us another update on your jacket here? Is it still losing most of its properties and aging fairly rapidly?

Well, here's to hoping that Ten-c fits TTS. I just picked up the Storm Parka at 70% off from Bodega. As long as it fits, I think I finally found my go-to winter parka. I like the adaptability of adding liners, but I also want to be able to wear it unlined over Inverallan knits.

I am a little concerned that I should have gone with a 48, but Haven's measurements look like it should be just right in 50, my usual size for outerwear. It doesn't really look like a boxy fit like some of their other parkas, which is good. We'll see...

This looks so cozy. I want my storm parka to look like this eventually.
