I'm redoing my sweater wardrobe after an unfortunate incident, and I like the look of sweaters with "standing collars" (examples below) over vnecks and crews right now. I'm curious though, are you really expected to allow the collar to stand? What if you folded it down? Is this a fading trend, or does it have any staying power? Should skip these as a fad and get classic vnecks and crews?

I wouldn't consider it a fad, and they hold their own place in the sweater category. More sportswear and casual, but it's going to realistically fold over if you undo the zipper the whole way, it'd be up if you keep the zipper around halfway

Sorry to read about your injury and may you heal quickly. Collared garments like the ones you have pictured are meant to be worn as shown.

Thanks for the info and opinions. I'm fine -- the incident was with my old sweaters in storage!

Yeah, I didn't know what to call it, so searching the forums/web was difficult. BR puts "standing collar" in the description but most hits are about the collars you linked.

That's how they are supposed to be IMO. The sweaters you shows us are called half-zips, which I've never seen with a collar laid down. I like them myself, especially with shirts.
