yeah +1 on the scotchlite. I like TAD personally because the colors are versatile.
I almost think that some of these jackets are getting too breathable - I have a Rab Drillium made out of very light eVent and it is too breathable for me. You pretty much have to layer under it.
I think it is an amazing jacket, and would be perfect for climbing or cycling. But for just hanging around, it doesn't insulate well enough. Will probably end up selling it and looking for something more city-wearish, like a Veilance piece or similar.
In other news, just got my Acronym Set 1 from Bodega - ridiculously sweet piece of kit. The Gore Tex Pro isn't as lightweight as eVent which is a plus in my book.
How much did that set run you? Was there anything special about buying it? Limited?
I had sold my previous Acronym jacket which was a bit too tight in a M. Then Bodega had a 20% sale on, so went for it... Not sure about the status, but I always like stuff with a bit of quirkiness to it, so there you go.
Anyone have any experience with TAD gear in this thread? Was thinking about the Special Service Sweater and maybe a Stealth Hoodie LT (Schoeller C-change)
anyone can tell me where t oget a nice warm and subtile fleece? been eyeing on some NAU stuff and the uu x uniqlo ones for now.
akatsuki, I've been using TAD for years. I haven't owned a SSS in a few seasons as I preferred the original version with smaller ribbing, but it's nice and fits normal to athletic people well, less so than the tacticool market that usually purchases TAD. It's made in China though if that's something that bothers you. I've went through maybe the last three or versions of the Stealth and the Rocket World Ronin(TAD offshoot that mostly dabbled in vinyl toys, but also had some less tacticool offerings), and I think the the current Stealth LT is the best version they've ever made in terms of fit and maybe function. I'd say construction is up there with stuff like Veilance. Though I really don't like the change from more diagonal chest zips of previous seasons to the completely short vertical ones now. I'm also not a fan of the chunky RiRi aqua seal zip. I'm sure the zips help functionally but the teeth are so big imo and are an eyesore up close, especially on the pocket zips. Overall though, they're noticeably nicer than your regular outdoor stuff, but not really better than some of the more nicer tech ninja shit people on SuFu are into.
Good to know - TAD is doing a sample sale in Dogpatch soon, anyone willing to proxy?
Here are the details:
yeah I found someone off another forum who would proxy for me.
nineohtoo hit the nail in the head. that`s an accurate description
TAD's part in the 3rd street sale(and I guess TAD in general) has gotten pretty big since military based shooters got big. People get there pretty early and wait in line to pay for a while. Aside from finding some interesting samples, the sale and sample prices aren't much better than MIL/LEO discounts so now I just stop by to say hi to friends.
So 10%? That is a joke for a sample sale and definitely not worth the time.
I think sale items last year were around 15% off(regular stock). Sample stuff was probably around 30-40% off, and weren't samples of what eventually went to be produced(I suppose what people expect at other sample sales) but actual prototypes that didn't get past the early stages of development(different fabrics, pocket configurations, hypalon detailing). Some I think were even used or tested. I probably should have clarified that I simply thought they were interesting to see, not that I actually cared to buy or line up for them. Plus most of the nicer stuff were in more average sizes like medium and 30" or bigger. The only samples I thought were worth getting, like the white Stealth, were probably the first things to go, and also not in my size.
Well, since I am debating between a TAD Stealth Hoodie LT or a Mission Eiger right now, neither of which I expect to find on good discount - not going to worry about it so much.
How is the Praetorian Hoodie? Worth it or just a hoodie?
Yeah, I think so. Though it does start to pill pretty bad after a while, and I've seen a few thumb hole cuffs unravel. Also the fit is very fitted, so it doesn't quite look like a regular gym hoodie when worn.
Anyone able to tell me how does Veilance fit?
Separate names with a comma.
