Hello,

I'm a young CEO whose company has recently come into a fair amount of money, and now I'd like to start LOOKING like a CEO. I'm based in Daegu, South Korea (but I'm Italian-American, not Korean). Daegu is known in Korea as the fashion design capital of the country.

I'd like to pick up a few bespoke suits and custom shirts, but I need some resources as to how to spot quality. I'd like to know the terms (i.e. what's a surgeon's cuff? Or a ticket pocket?). I'd also like to know the options (pocket placement, venting, etc.) I know there is way too much information for someone to put it all in the thread here, but if someone could point me to a good book or website, I would very much appreciate it.

The way I know to locate a good bespoke tailor is to call the best hotel in the city and ask the concierge. If anyone knows a good tailor here, let me know. If I need to go to Seoul, I can do that too, but I'd prefer to find something good here in Daegu if possible.

I also own a designer-made casual jacket that I bought in Rome a few years ago, and I love it, but it is linen and I'd like to have it copied in a less wrinkle-prone material. Is that do-able?

Thanks for everyone's time in reading my request. Any advice you can share is appreciated.

The Amazon Store has all the books. Tailors are in the archives. If you're really serious about this, you might consider hiring a consultant. I believe Manton has a standing proposition for Fiat.

I'd say if you're going bespoke, don't bother having your designer OTR jacket duplicated (which might be impossible while switching fabrics, anyway). Rather, bring it in and talk to your tailor about what you like about it.

For the terminology, I recommend picking up Andy's Encyclopedia of Men's Clothing. Its pretty cheap and details most of the basic terminology discussed in the forums.

+1 for Andy's encyclopedia. Have you visited askandyaboutclothes.com?

I wonder if it would help to try on a range of well made RTW suits to see how different styles and silhouettes look on you. Is that a possibility?
