Teach me about spring/summer odd trousers

In the long, twisting road that is the construction of a tailored wardrobe, sports coat time has arrived. On my next trip to HK, I'll have two spring/summer SC's made. I already decided on the following (with crescent jetted pockets):

And I am still pondering on this (with swelled edges, patch pockets):

I'd also like to get some trousers to suit these, and so I'd like some advice about colours and fabrics. These will be worn in continental Europe, for temperatures between 15 and 27 degrees centigrade (from about 60 - lower 80's F).

For colours, I was thinking about a rich chocolate brown, and either a very light grey or a slightly-lighter-than-navy blue. I don't really like white or cream (around here, they make one look like a prat, and I'll never keep that clean), but I'm open to shades of tan/beige.

As for fabrics, I was thinking about cotton gabardine for the brown and tropical wool for the grey. Haven't really thought about linen, but I'm not sure how that would square with the SC's texture-wise.

Thanks!
R.

Consider a tan 360 gram wool gabardine and a light gray 300 gram fresco. Brown is too dark for summer IMO.

Also cream gab (very useful), cotton in various shades of khaki and stone, and off white flannel.

Light olive cotton or gab is also useful.

If you give a bit more i.e. context of wear, suggestions might be more helpful.

Gabardine, huh? No experience with it. What are its attributes?

Hangs well, holds a crease. Wears warm. More for spring than summer.

Wears warm? Then what's the point?

I'm tempted to do an winter/summer flannel/fresco trouser wardrobe--all in light grey.

Yes, that sounds like you.

I like gab for spring days or cool summer nights. They also have a polished look, unlike fresco, for when you want to look a little more formal. I just personally can't take them in really high heat, but I am sure others could.

Thanks for the great responses till far.

@ agoldf: lifestyle situation: I'm a junior academic, with some managerial responsibilities. Everyday dress of my peer group is very business casual, SC + slacks/denim is already relatively formal.

@ manton: gabardine might indeed be too warm in the hot summer evenings for me as well, but I'm also looking to wear these jackets throughout spring. And then I can get a pair of fresco trousers for the hotter evenings.

@ will: the tan gabardine and grey jacket might work very well with the lovely summer check tie I bought from you. I've been waiting for a good opportunity to roll it out since winter...

Definitely not 360 gram like Will mentioned. Maybe 9, or 10 oz tops. With darker colors I feel like they are overly prone to shine.

Where do you get fresco pants? Except for MTM/Bespoke.

Howard Yount pants aren't fresco but some of them are made of open-weave fabrics.

^I think he does.

My favorite summer pants are stone linen/cotton blends, unbleached/undyed linen ones, and light gray frescos.
