Two of my favorite colors which I feel are underrated are taupe for pants and ecru for shirts but not necessarily together. I think both of these are classic yet add a touch of distinction to a wardrobe as they are underutilized by most in the business world. I am curious to hear if other forum members' opinions on these two color.

I stick with solid shirts with suits and I use three color families: whites, which consist of ivory and ecru, pinks and blues. The near primary nature of these colors give you different looks without the concern of worrying about your pinstripe and windowpane suits. Also make tie cordination a breeze. Works very well for me. Count me as a fan.
With sports coats and odd jackets - I get a bit more wild with my combinations of shirts and ties.

When buying shirts colors such as yellow and pink do you know of a good way to gauge if the tone is pale enough for conservative dress? On occasion I have brought a shirt home only to determine that it is a stronger shade than I thought it was when I was in the store.

I'm with you on both.
