I just bought a pair of these shoes. 100% leather uppers, lining and soles. Sleek and simple styled loafers. I got them in Macy's while on Vacation. But the salesman was not sure who really made them and I can't find anything on the internet either. So I thought why not ask the experts on this group. Here is a link to the Macy's site, I purchased the black ones. Thanks for your insight. Robert

The sense I have is that this is a private-label line made for Macy's. It would probably really take some digging to find out who makes them for Macy's. That model is quite nice looking--not as extreme as some Italian-made, lower-cost shoes--with a clearly chiseled toe, and is undoubtedly good value for $90. My guess would be that they are Blake-constructed shoes made by an Italian firm to compete at the lower price points. You can tell whether they're Blake-constructed (as opposed to being welted) by seeing whether there is a line of stitching in the insole in the forward part of the shoe. If so, they're Blake-stitched. Lots of comparable shoes are coming out of Italy these days. These particular ones are more attractive than many I've seen. They are probably quite light and will feel good on your feet. Don't expect them, however, to last a long time, as I would imagine that they are quite lightly-constructed, and may present problems vis-a-vis resoling (if they are, indeed, Blake-stitched). I'd be prepared to take good care of them--maybe adding Topy sole covers--if you expect to keep them for a long time.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
