I've been going crazy trying to find a decent polo shirt that won't bunch up at my waist. Do any high-quality brands have a polo that tapers at the waist?

i don't know but i'd be really interestied in this as well. my shoulders are so much wider than my waist. i am shaped like an inverted triangle. my chest is 46"-48" and my natural waist is like 32"-33". i look like a total BOX unless my shirts are fitted and i always have a hard time finding a polo like that.

however, when i was in Hong Kong, i bought a great one made by "indu homme" that is fitted and soft and wonderful!

Vintage Le Tigre is pretty fitted.

I believe all of Original Penguin’s polos are fitted. Also, the Lacoste polos with the silver crocodile is their fitted line.

you could always go for the custom-fit RL polos. JCrew also has them (called favorite fit)

Thanks, guys. I'm looking for dressier polos that I can wear out to a bar/dinner. I'll take a look at the Marc Jacobs, but the Penguins, LaCoste, and LeTigre seem a little too casual. Any other ideas?

So anyone know where I might find a silver label Lacoste for less than $135 CDN (130US) they are selling for here in the Toronto Lacoste store ?

The lacoste website has run out of my size 3 black in the silver label line. The fit is amazing.

p.s. - the john smedley stuff looks pretty interesting - might have to go that avenue for some experimentation too

Tomasso's absolutely right. I have two John Smedley polos now, and, in addition to being about the softest polos out there in any numbers (beautiful soft Sea Island cotton), they are a slim fit. Really beautiful polos!

I have got the very same problem. Where in Hong Kong did you find the 'indu homme' polo? As far as RL is concerned, 'custom fit' is for guys with narrow shoulders. For me, 'Classic Fit' is not quite as huge around the waist, but still pretty bad.

I agree. Custom fit is too narrow in the shoulders and tight around the arms. It's ok if you're thin all over - not if your athletic and slim.

Michael Bastian is by far the most fitted Polo I have ever seen. Avoid the skin tight look by going one size up, the shoulders should still relatively well. These are made by Cucinelli IIRC.

Edit: they are far more fitted than RL custom fit.

Zanone and Malo.

Super high quality a slim fit yet still tasteful.
