FWIW, you can still get the Ritz card through a product change if you already have one of the Marriott cards, you just have to ask for it (it's not advertised)

Grab it! I know I'm sounding a bit like Foo prattling on about the Ritz card but, at least for us, it's been a great card.

Lol, the Platinum card comes bedded in a wooden block that also functions as a cell phone stand.

I'm not sure what I expected though...I guess this is about right.

God damnit, the "tap" on this card works better than my transit card.

Oh well, guess I'm a few bucks closer to that 5k spend!

I still remember the old days when cc's were plastic and you could just throw away. Nowadays they're all made of special materials which you have to send back.

Well my old Platinum completely fell apart on its own and they had to send me a new one, so getting rid of them isn't really an issue.

My Ritz is really solid metal and same deal about having to send it back. I don't really like it and wish is was simple plastic or something.

I wonder if you can ask for plastic. I know that even the black card defaults to plastic in some markets.

Chase sent out plastic cards for the Sapphire Reserve because they ran out of metal blanks due to high demand at launch. People were pretty pissed. I was early enough I got a metal one but missed the fancy box/etc that it normally comes in.

Does Amex still overnight cards if lost/stolen? That is an underrated item with Amex. When we needed new cards from Citi, it took like 6+ business days for the card to show up which is ridiculous.

Unsure, I had to replace mine recently because like I said it was literally coming apart and it took like a week because of the lazer etching and all of that BS. I'd think with the metal cards getting a new card overnight is difficult, however it may be possible for lost/stolen vs. damaged.

My experience with amex has been that the stated policy is normal shipping, but they always overnight it so you feel special.

This card was no exception. Approved Tuesday afternoon, was in my mailbox Thursday. Probably would have come earlier if I had ordered earlier in the day or didn't need the full welcome package (they paid for next day, just didn't get it in the mail until Wednesday).
