I wonder where all my FB "friends" who were all on board with crediting Trump for the stock market rise are at the past week. They're much quieter this week.

Sigh.

This is going to cost considerably in the form of liquid assets (that sit on my shelf in a brown bottle).

I've gotten beat more than the market in the past couple days because I'm heavily weighed on oil and banking, especially WFC. The WFC ruling is upsetting, I'm not easily shaken having been in the stock market since 2007, but this is disheartening and rough on the investors. Truly it is the fault of WFC, not the fed, but it's a very harsh penalty.

This really intrigues me as an opportunity given the presumed tailwinds for the US banks.

i wasnt in the market in 2007/2008 but i havent seen any major bank have a single day like this since i have been paying attention.

They (WFC) do deserve a kick ********** for really running wild with their accounts, but it does come as something a bit out of the blue for me since I don't pay attention to the day to day that much. I was not actually aware that such a ruling was about to happen but I was of course aware of the scandal.

Hopefully it changes the risk/reward metrics for people who want to game the system in really pointless ways in the future, they've gained absolutely nothing in working in this fashion. Fake accounts are worthless in real terms, and the insurance thing gained them a few million dollars...so absolutely nothing to a bank with a 290B market cap.

Of course this type of thing is always costly to the investors, really ticks me off as I was looking forward to seeing the result of said tailwinds.

2008 into 2009 was pretty rough, I remember looking at the tickers on days like this and just laughing. I could put money into a stock and look at a considerable loss later that same day...or just the opposite. I paid $20, $14, $10 for WFC stock and I remember looking at in mid March 2009 thinking I wish I had more to put into the stock because my best purchase was then underwater by 30%.

Woof… days like today make me glad I'm currently 25% bonds…

Trying to think back to 2007-2008 and I was so new to the market back then that I was just plowing more pre-tax income into my employers 401k convinced I was buying shares at a discount.
