Rockwell-Collins (COL) has been good to me. Bought into it on 1/19 and it's earned me about 1.02%. Steady eddie stock, not terribly volatile. Buy and hold stock. I hold mostly ETFs in my portfolio. VNQ (Vanguard REIT ETF) has been the most profitable amongst my portfolio.

That's asking a lot from SF.

I buy typical buy and hold dividend growth stocks. I like them, but I would like a spec. stock as well so I'm thinking of Sprint. The company is well marketed and provides great phones, however they're holding a ton of cash and have negative earnings.

Here's the problem with (S). They don't have an "it" phone. Sure the Evo is good, but no one will ever be waiting in line for it like an Iphone, or a droid to a lesser extent. Now what could happen is that VZ network gets overrun by people buying the Iphone with VZ service and get frustrated by VZ and switch to S, but I don't think that will happen.

EDIT: I don't think they'll ever get back to where the were.

VZ didn't have an 'It' phone forever and they've held there own against ATT. I dont think that's the case, I think they're simply competing for a different client.

Most of the money I've made in the last 12 months has been on special situation stocks with decent fundamentals - BP, C, F, etc...

I mostly hold AAPL and COP. Which have both done extremely well for me. However, I would like to build a nice balanced portfolio..kind of. Can you guys suggest a ETF that does well month after month? Maybe something in emerging markets?

Have you looked at VWO (Vanguard Emerging Markets ETF)?
