keep in mind our friends at the Fed sold at the top. I would be prepared for a surprisingly hawkish taper schedule on Wed. If we get a dead bounce rally tomorrow I will look to short some S&P futures as hedges.

I am averaging in on crypto so am fine with the dip.

ABNB is now gaining after I sold but oh well. My decision to sell was after the usual people I know who ABNB looked elsewhere due to the fees. For some reason, you can rent a place for say $200/night then cleaning fees can be another $100 even for single room rentals. At that point, a hotel is obvious.

Sorry not selling options but futures contracts. I just go with the front month. You don't have to deal with time decay but instead you get huge leverage, which is both a blessing and a curse, but it works for a hedge. I got in short today to fade the early rally but covered. Have to admit the action today looks bullish. Going into tomorrow without a hedge.

Airbnb is good overseas/other countries. (Used several times in Mexico/Europe- prices were significantly cheaper than hotels)

Airbnb still wins if you want more suite-like or resort-like features:

- Kitchen / dining area for preparing your own meals, eating breakfast, etc, (or just eating takeout during covid because you are vacationing somewhere with no precautions)
- Multiple bedrooms for either kids or group trips. Usually comes out cheaper than multiple hotels, but even if it doesn't, it can still win for having communal space to hang out in.
- Usable outdoor space. Grill, private hot tub, somewhere to throw a ball around, etc. depending on the climate and venue.

If a couple is going to a city destination where restaurants are an attraction, I think hotels still win.

But a trip where the goal is to meet up with old friends? Or a trip to somewhere more remote or that has more daytime recreation attractions rather than dining/nightlife? AirBNB is a strong contender there even if it doesn't win on price.

Edit: although most places in the latter group already had established vacation rentals... Airbnb just provided an improved tech for connecting them to customers and did it better than VRBO.

Pretty sure AirBNB and VRBO both beat hotels when it comes to the host planting hidden cameras.
