My wedding venue was just that, a venue. No in house catering. So we had to bring in our own caterer who also supplied all the booze. She charged us by what was opened as well. Worked out well.

I like good prime rib, the problem is, not everyone is capable of serving good prime rib.

That would be amazing. One of the venues we looked at was basically the opposite: 'venue charge' was almost free, but you had to use their catering/drinks/etc package which more than evened it out - even charged for parking attendants. Needless to say, we went somewhere else.

im not sure it was cost effective but it certainly allowed us to pick and choose exactly what we wanted. For example, there was no sit down dinner. The entire wedding was essentially a 5 hour cocktail hour.

Was thinking about some protective puts on maybe 50% of my SPY holdings. I thought, let's look at 400 strike, as that's about a 10% drop. Looking at January it's 2k per contract. Yup, we'll be riding out any storm and I'll use that money to buy a used 981 instead.

So is SHOP cheap at $200B or fairly priced for the long term. I feel like it could be a lot bigger.

Also for the CAPE watchers out there…

I don't think CAPE makes much sense for the tech industry. Maybe it does for large, mature/declining markets, but if you use a 10 year average, you're going to discount away consistent growth.

All the weddings I've been to have been flat rate per person so the hosts are telling me to go wild.

I had a work event at some place on Westheimer, and the private room we had charged a substantial minimum to reserve. Suffice to say, the three Pappy Van Winkle's I had probably did my share of reaching that minimum. I'm normally overly frugal with the Company's money. Never fly Business even though it's permitted, but that night, I felt I had no choice, since we'd be leaving money on the table if we didn't hit the minimum.

Reminds me of my friend and his dad went to Lake Charles with some of his dad's friends for some weekend getaway fantasy football ****. They had a reservation at a casino with a minimum reservation that was pretty high. All of the guys were worried that they weren't going to drink enough and would be wasting money on the reservation.

In comes one of my friend's friend who weighs close to 350 lbs. This guy goes on to pound a **** ton of Jack and cokes and he blows through the minimum like it was nothing.

We had that issue twice with company sponsored events, both because weather kept most people home and the place had a bar minimum. They had no Pappy but I enjoyed the Balvenie 30’s and the Opus One
