You've got me confused with @otc or @brokencycle. I don't mess with crypto.

I'm a sovereign citizen. I don't pay taxes on anything.

Dammit. ******** up the crypto **** on my tax return and figured it out like 5 minutes after hitting E-file. This sucks for 2 reasons:

1. Now I have to figure out how to file an amended return with TurboTax (but you can't do this until the original file is accepted).
2. It turns out my Ethereum investment was much worse than I thought. I only reported cost basis as the amount I paid to buy ETH in Coinbase, but I missed 2 large buys that were made through Coinbase Pro. So I thought that I roughly doubled my money...but I only made like 5% profit.

Silver lining is that I get some more money back. Previously the ETH profits ate up my tax-loss-harvesting capital losses...now I'm back to deducting the full 3k and having a capital loss carryover to next year.

edit: and I only figured it out because TurboTax is an awkward mess with this stuff.
Despite it asking me a quesiton like "Did you sell any cryptocurrency last year", it never actually gave me a chance to fill in the crypto info. Had to figure out where to put that stuff myself (didn't get a 1099 from coinbase)...and then *after* you efile, it pops up some **** saying "Oh, and you still have to mail this piece of paper".

They give zero instructions for what you are supposed to attach to that paper, but I figured out that it is supposed to be statements/evidence for the crypto stuff. And then in trying to compile a sensible set of statements from the info Coinbase gave me, I realized that the transaction quantities didn't add up.

Because I kept my currency in a hardware wallet, the coinbase statements show the correct quantity as moving back and forth between wallets, but they don't show that some of that ETH was purchased in coinbase pro rather than coinbase so the costs are wrong.

Didn't watch, but to those who saw it... was it cringey? Wouldn't surprise me. Saw on the news he outed himself as an Aspie on the show. Trying to humanize yourself, Elon? Clever. More morons buying your bullshit.

It was much better than most expected and they used him in a lot of sketches (usually as a weirdo in a way that only actual actors like Christopher Walken can manage).

They wrote him a pretty good monologue for his oddities and he seemed happy to be the butt of his own jokes.

We just got fully onboard with an independent RIA we really like ... and some ******* Canadians have bought them out. Sounds like nothing much will change in the short term other than the tech platform, so we will stick around and see how it goes. There's not much friction in changing advisors, you just give notice and do the paperwork to move the whole portfolio over to the new guys' custodian.

We were all quite impressed with your holdings too but couldn't help but notice they're mainly in your wife's name with you listed as...contingent beneficiary. :(
