We have to be solution oriented to a fault. Data isn't emotional and neither can we be. Throw out the playbook and wear any hat needed to get us to the dotted line.

I always say "you cut out, can you repeat that?" on conference calls. It's never because the person actually cut it out. It's because I'm dicking around and trolling on SF not paying attention to the call until someone calls my name to ask a question.

I feel like most of the jargon examples at the end of that article are really reaching. Some of them are just ordinary words and their definitions... Using some SAT-level vocab words at a company like tesla or spacex is definitely not what Elon was complaining about.

He probably didn't care about universally established acronyms like ASAP either... That's not inhibiting communication with new employees.

I'm thankful my company pretty much sticks with the academic vocabulary... But some places really do go wild with nicknames, abbreviations, and acronyms.

It's like trying to read DT or CE on the forvm without knowing that ed always phails or what :foo: is (all without even owning some AE 2nds).

MegaCorp has its own language; it was both amusing and irritating to me. They even go so far as to change the names of industry standard org chart positions that exist in any healthcare facility. I used to ruffle feathers when I'd say, "Can you translate that out of MegaCorp speak?"

Foguring out what people at MegaSoftCorp do based on their titles is always a fun game.

My title is incredibly vague and only 4 people in the company (out of 50,000+) have something similar. Our peers elsewhere have a different title because someone in our business unit had already claimed that one before we were acquired.

If you come out of retirement tell them you want the title, "Master of Stonks."
