Ok Chogall, you are making some obnoxious assumptions about my points. I can argue without needing to resort to that, but see you have a tough time in doing so.

It's obvious that I'm referring to high quality bonds and put options on equities.

Short lived rally? Looks like nothing but bad news to me, yet there is surprising optimism in trading.

It seems as though we've crossed a threshold where bad news has become good news on the assumption that enough bad news will stimulate central bank action.

I kind of agree. Although I think we have turned the corner on the last few months.

BTW, what the hell: I got my CS dividend recently in my IRA, but got hit with withholding on it. Is it because its an international company? This doesnt seem right.

Hah, disturbing but that sounds accurate.

Depends on the country of origin, some withhold taxes on ADR's, others do not. It also depends on wether or not the shares fall under an agreement made with the US, for example I hold Rds-a which does not withhold tax if the dividends are paid out as shares, so I have elected to reinvest the dividend which forces them to be paid out as shares.

Congresses' grilling of Dimon is pretty disappointing, do these guys do anything but grandstand or attempt to look smart in front of the room? I think more than ever I trust Dimon to run JPM.

Up to you, I think it has more to drop. The summer has been a shit show every year since 2008 so far.

summer 2008 was great for most ppl, especially if they were long raw materials/short financial/hy. lehman fell in fall.
summer 2009 was great too as qe ends in march and hft liquidity trap hits in may/june.
summer 2010 is not that bad, especially after david tepper's cnbc balls to the wall net long call in august.

only summer 2011 was bad. but there was still a dead cat bounce all-in rally over the last 10 days of june.
