for whatever it is worth, i needed some reasonably skilled tailoring recently and had to reweave four small holes in a quality suit. my search led in two directions. name of the place plus comments:

-Firehouse Custom Tailor, Cabin John, Maryland. Jackets needed some meaningful alterations to fit better, and they effectively re-cut a pair of trousers that were far too big/loose, particularly in the thigh area. the work came out quite well. Fairly pricy, $320 for two suits. well worth it.

-Chevy Chase Custom Tailor, Chevy Chase, MD. The primary driver is that they're known for re-weaving work, and few tailors in the area do that. I can't yet comment on the alterations - still in process - but they are fairly similar to the issues i had the Firehouse person address; moreover. this tailor saw the same issues without my having to point them out & was compliant when i asked for certain things to be a tad looser than he wanted.

For what it is worth, I find that the DC thread tends to carry many casual conversations and thus makes finding specific information to be difficult. This is unfortunate as there is lots of good information on the thread, but with over 3000 postings searches are difficult (and unthreaded).

They will most likely answer tour questions, though
