Hi,

I'm Australian, heading to Bali in June/July. Looking at getting some suits tailored predominantly to wear to work (finance industry).

Does anyone have any experiences from Bali tailors and that could recommend quality tailors?

Is there any advice or pitfalls i should be aware of before i go?

Thanks

Dude, think about it- it's Bali. Have you ever saw a Balinese in a suit there?

Yeh but im sure there are tailors there which leads me to believe you havent been there before and dont really know. My initial post was more intended for Aussies who have been there before and maybe have had a good experience buying suits from there.

I'm no Aussie so I guess I'm not qualified to answer your question then since most Aussies stay in Kuta where not surprisingly most tourist trap establishments are also- like Anika Tailoring*. As you said, I haven't been there... staying in Jimbaran and Nusa Dua, going to Ubud, white water rafting in the Ayung River. Good luck in your search, then... and keep us posted if you do get something tailored there. *

I don't go to Kuta, so I haven't used Anika Tailors. However, I have heard both good and bad things about them. If you want a high-end suit, they won't fulfill your needs. However, if you are happy with a cheap, made-to-measure suit in a cheap fabric, then you will be fine. I have never heard any complaints about their service - apparently it is excellent - but I have heard some complaints about the quality of materials and the constructions quality (ie durability, longevity) of the clothes. From memory, they charge about AU$130 and upwards for a suit, depending on fabric.

There are some other tailors around the Kuta area, and some are happy to pick you up from and return you to your hotel. They'll also drop the completed suit at your hotel or come to your place for a fitting.

As I said above, you won't get a high quality suit. However, if you don't expect to get Ralph Lauren Purple Label quality, but instead just want a few cheap suits, then you should be fine.
