Tailoring Slim Wool Pants?

Hey - I took a pair of wool pants I had to the tailor to get them slimmed up. Went to pick them up, weren't slim enough, came back and the tailor told me this is as slim as they'll do b/c wool doesnt stretch. Sort of made sense at the time and I was in a hurry, but I'm not really happy with them:

Does anyone know if the tailor is absolutely correct? I don't want them too slim - I gave them another pair of trousers I liked to go off of but they said 'too slim' so I told them to go off of a pair of vintage slim fit j crew chinos I had and they agreed but the result is not the same. Just want something similar to any of these:

Anyone know if this can be done or was the tailor right and it's as skinny as they should go?

Also anyone know where I can cop a pair of plaid pants like this????

Thanks!

You are looking to get the pants tapered more, it looks. You can't go any slimmer in the thigh really, and have it still look good. The bottom of the slack however should still be able to be tapered if you wish.

Pants like in the last pic show up in the BS every once in a while.

I agree with rj. The pant can be tapered from knee down to get rid of the bagginess. I have this done to every one of my suits and it comes out great. Just be careful because it's a very fine line between perfectly slim and way too tight to function properly when you sit, stand, walk.

On a side note, how much does it cost to get pants slimmed down? I always have my suit pants hemmed and often it looks too baggy and needs a good tapering
