Tailoring a Traditional Fit Suit

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I need help with tailoring a suit.

I saw an Yves Saint Laurent suit that I really liked in a Traditional Fit and a Slim Fit, but I prefer a Trim Fit. Would I be able to tailor the traditional fit down to a trim fit without it looking awkward? It's fully canvassed and made of virgin wool. Also, the (notch) lapels are not that slim, so would they look weird if I tailor the rest of the jacket?

Thanks a lot

Post some photos. There's no way for us to know what you mean by "trim fit" without them.

I saw the suit in person, but I can't find the exact one online. But what I mean by trim fit is something along the lines of Brooks Brothers Fitzgerald Fit in a 42R.
