Tailoring a Suit from Off 5th

Hey guys,

First post here but have been reading this site for several months.

I recently bought a suit from Off 5th and wanted to get the waist jacket brought in and the pants hemmed. Should I take it to a Saks retail shop to get this done? Will they do it for free or will they know it was from their outlet and charge me?

Edit: The suit I purchased is a suit made by Saks with the cloth by Zegna

If you dont have a tailor you already use then I guess the Saks store would be a fairly safe bet. But yeah, pretty sure they will charge you. Now is a good time to find a local tailor that you like/trust.

They will charge you. Might as well just find a local tailor. Go to google maps and search tailor. Find one near you and take it to them. It should cost you about $50 total.

A good alterations tailor is worth their weight in gold. Go to the best menswear store in your city and ask where they take alterations. If they do the work in-house, ask where they send the overflow, when their tailor is too busy to take care of everything. I found a marvelous alterations tailor this way, until I moved to a new city. For some reason, my tactic didn't work here, so I'm still searching

You can look on Yelp for reviews on local tailors as well.

They will charge you, but likely 25% more or so than a local tailor. If you go to a full price Saks, they will try and beat the money out of you that you saved by shopping the outlet.

I would have thought so too... but I took a Black Label sport coat that I bought from RL.com on sale to the Ralph Lauren store. They needed to chop the shoulders, trim the chest, the waist, lengthen the sleeves/finish the sleeves. They did a pretty good job and only charged me $150 total.
