i went and had a tailored suit ordered few weeks ago. its my first tailored suit and i also went and had a made to measure shirt. ok so made to measure isn't quite bespoke but its the shirt i can afford right now.

i dont know what type of shoes i should get. round toe, square-ish, laces, lace ups, etc.
ive been reading that one should always wear lace ups with a nice suit but to be quite honest i hate lace ups and i've always preferred having dress shoes without laces.

i basically need some advice on shoes, with/without laces i dont care at this point i just want some dynomite shoes.

the suit is a dark/navy blue window pane suit, two button, notched lapel, shirts will be with french cuffed, about half- an inch of cuff showing, shirt collar is wide, i usually prefer windsor/double windsor tied

shoes will most likely be brown if anyone has links or pics to some shoes please share.
my first time posting sorry for ramble

Probably depends a bit on what occasions you intend to wear this suit, and of course where you're located, but many recommend getting an Allen Edmonds Park Avenue in black, as a good first basic dress shoe.

I stick with the Allen Edmonds Park Avenue recommendation. You should be able to find some easily in NYC to try on. This is a fairly middle-of-the-road shoe, and you can certainly do better (at a higher price, of course), but if you don't know specifically what style you'd prefer, then this is a good "starter" shoe. Dark brown might be okay, but black might be more suitable if you need the shoe for more formal events.

I'm not familiar with the environment, but a window pane suit and french cuffs might not go over too well in court. There was a thread maybe a couple weeks back posted by a lawyer who received a negative reaction from a jury due to dressing "too fancy".

thank you, i can always "dress down" when i go to court. but i like looking my sharpest and that's what im going for right now. i just want to have my gear first and worry about dressing down later.

again, thank you for the responses

Window pane looks a little loud.

I agree with Park Aves. Can't go wrong with the look. But lets face it, lawyers don't dress particularly well, its highly doubtful anyone would notice your shoes as long as they're black.

The balmoral captoe can be found from virtually any shoe maker.

Most people around here aren't too fond of loafers just FYI

I would recommend a dark brown captoe oxford.

Also, no square toed crap.
