Can anyone suggest a good tailor in the Bath or Bristol area that will advise on and alter a suit?

Thanks

It's a bit further down the M5, but Lugets in Exeter are good.

About a decade ago there used to be a good elderly tailor (manufacturing as well as alterations) working from one of the basement rooms on Gay Street in Bath. I don't know if he's still working, but if so he would be my recommendation.

Otherwise you could try the alterations tailor that works out of one of the little gatehouses on Queen's Parade Place. I think it's called something like Tailors Workshop. I'm hesitant, because he's very slow, but he did a good job last time I used him.

Barington Ayre is in the Cotswolds, not too far from Bath. He also travels quite a bit through the UK with very flexible hours.

Territo on Park St in Bristol: http://www.territo-tailors.com/index2.htm . It's a bit hard to find as they have no store front: it's at the beginning of the street (coming from College Green), on the left hand side, on the first floor. You'll see the name on the windows. They've competently done a couple of alterations for me. They also do bespoke and have a small selection of vintage cloth, but I haven't been tempted to try them as I'm happy with my tailors in Italy. Also in Bristol, there's a place called Case & Edwards (I think) in Redland. I know nothing about their work, but it looks like a proper old fashioned bespoke tailor.

Any reviews on this company? Might fit the bill for me!

That's correct George. Thanks for all the suggestions, I will have a look around.

I don't know about reviews. I'm sure there must be something online if you do a search. Their website is here. I've used them before (and still do) and thoroughly recommend them. Tom Wharton is a delightful fellow who is only too happy to do whatever it takes to make you happy with your shirts, suits etc. Country clothing is also his speciality.
