Considering putting my hand up for this sweater

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....062433527&rd=1

Measurements seem pretty right compared to a couple of my other tops. It should be a pretty good fit.

I don't own any cashmere tops. Does it tend to be warmer than a similar weight in merino wool?

You should know that you run a much greater risk of losing that auction now. Many lurk and snap up these bargains. (If it were in my size and colour, I'd probably give you a fair battle for it

Any thoughts on whether cashmere is a warmer fabric than wool?

Im sure there are some real experts on here but in my experience it depends on the ply. I have very thin 2 ply cashmere sweaters that are very lite and can be worn in the summer. I also have thicker cashmere sweaters for winter. I would say that because the cashmere is a finer material and a bit lighter weight that it would be lighter and cooler then wool.

I don't think you can make many blanket statements about cashmere because there are so many wools that call themselves 'cashmere' now. As the previous responder said, the actual weave and 'ply' count I'm sure makes a difference. I think in general, cashmere would be softer but not necessarily warmer.
