Heavy with this morning's dreadful news, hearts in the United States and throughout the world go out to our British brothers and sisters. Amid this calamity, may you whose steadfast courage and stoicism are a beacon to us all find safety, comfort and peace.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with all of you, both those whose friends or family members lost their lives and those affected by the shock and horror of what has happened on British soil.

I agree. I am awaiting news on the fate of my counsin's spouse who works in the financial district. Having lived through 9/11, I can all too readily imagine the horror. I truly sympathize.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all in England, especially the victims and their family members and friends. As the Prime Minister said, this is a "barbaric" act.

We stand with you in your pain and resolve to maintain great nation that it is.

I'd like to add my voice as well. My heart and thoughts are with all those affected by this awful, cowardly act.

Let me add my voice to the refrain. Having lived through both the Bhopal disaster and the Bombay/Mumbai blasts, I know that the perfidy of fate can be truly difficult to deal with. In these dark times, know that you are not alone, and that the best response to the perpetrators of this enormity is to keep your spirit up and your head high.

At the same time, it would please me tremendously to deliver a far more corporeal resonse to those responsible.

My deepest sympathy for all of UK, as well as all the UK members on this board. Drop a note so we know you're still here.
Having lived through 9/11, I can almost smell the smoke in London now.

Don't know how I missed this, but my sympathies as well. I hope all our members and their families and friends are okay.

No. The Brits are a difficult target for terrorists. They tend to follow security instructions. Has that happened in France, everybody would be running and screaming and there would probably be twice as many dead people ( not least because security agents would be on strike over some government compensation scheme).
