i am considering getting a mtm zegna from syd jerome in chicago i was wondering does zegna make the suit or do they send fabric to syd jerome and their tailors make the suit (the former would be preferable to be) also does anyone have experience with syd jerome from what ive read they seem to be quite good.
any help or opinions are always appreciated!

I am a long-time lurker, but I finally found a post that I can answer. Syd Jerome sends your measurements to Zegna, and Zegna sends the suit back. SJ finishes the sleeves, hems the pants, and makes other adjustments.

However, it may be cheaper if you wait for a trunk show. You can call Richard Vincent, the Zegna specialist at Saks at 312 799-5182, and he can tell you when the next show is. I think that there is a 20% savings.

You guys at SF have cost me a lot of money. I donated my square-toed Kenneth Coles and Bostonians and bought Sutors, Zegnas, and Ferragamos.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
