Hello,

Is authentic swede an expensive fabric? I notice the jackers are expensive...
Also in terms of dress shirts that have french cuffs; is it posible to get them altered to normal cuffs?

Thanks,

D.

Do you mean suede? If so, suede is leather.

The price of a garment is more than just the cost of materials.

THe fabric is quite inexpensive to buy; any idea why the jackets are soo expensive?
you're linking to suede fringe -- if you're planning to make a shirt out of 2.5" x 8.5" pieces of fringe, go ahead. Pieces of suede large enough to actually make a shirt from will be more expensive than this. If you're seriously wondering why suede is more expensive than cotton shirting than I don't know what to tell you.

What the difference? Sorry I'm not up to speed with this fabric. I'm looking to make a jacket. Why is more expensive than cotton? Genuinely I know why its soo expensive

Cotton jackets can also be quite expensive, some more expensive than a low-end leather jacket.

I don't think it's fruitful to try to dissect pricing like this.

"La moda italiana is a “'buttery soft'” faux synthetic suede which will add a lot of drama and movement to the waist, hip or hemline area of so many fashionable garments. “ "

Is this even real suede?

While I agree that the price of high-end clothing is not necessarily a function of material, the price of the material necessarily sets a lower bound on the price of an item. You yourself have written many times that good cashmere is necessarily expensive. Why would that same principle not apply to a suede shirt? Or cordovan shoes?

I put fairly minimal thought into it. I have some cotton jackets that cost me over $1,000, and some leather jackets that cost me less than $1,000. I looked at the item and tried to figure out whether the price was worth paying given how it made me look and feel. Personally, I think this is the only sensible way to shop.
