"sweater stone" vs. pilling... experiences?

Anybody ever used this? How does it compare to electric shavers?

I've used a pumice stone like that on a jacket of mine (wool-rayon blend, bought before I knew better) that was pilling badly. They definitely do the job. I bought mine at my local dry cleaner for about $3. It's a pretty standard piece of clothing care equipment--it's not a scam or anything like that. In fact, it was none other than Andy Gilchrist of AAAC fame who suggested I get one.

Bizarre - this seems like exactly the kind of thing I want to keep my sweaters away from. But it seems to get good reviews. Since I wore out my sweater shaver maybe I'll have to find something like this to try.

I have used one before and it worked, but there are certain materials you cannot use it on. Silk is one, I believe.

well they're offering it for free here, so that's either a very good sign or a very bad sign. Probably best to test on a worn out Target Merino or something...
