For euro sweater sizes, how do they typically align with suit sizing?

If I'm a 46 US/56 EU (require a lot of tailoring to bring waist in) and 33 waist (US) what do I want to do as far as sweater Sizing goes?

Have been looking at some pieces online but I'm unsure how to size.

In general, the sizing is the same. That means if you’re a 46 US, then 56 euro is a good place to start.

Please note the highlighted text. There are other variables so not all 56’s will fit the same. Best to try on in person.
