How much will it cost to get a sweater altered? Is it going to make sense to alter a $60~$80 sweater? I am trying to decide between an XS that is a little short, but I can try and stretch it out, or a S which is long enough but too wide. Suggestions?

I'd keep looking. Don't know if it's even feasible to reduce a sweater width (I don't see how).
Still, I'm not expert so maybe it's possible.

CORRECTION: Mat44 showed me it's quite possible.

Check this thread on "Put this On" ...scroll down for the Q&A about altering a sweater.

I have most of my sweaters taken in at the waist. I've used two different tailors for this, and neither of them even raised an eyebrow.
