1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I have the S95 and it is a good little camera.
Great simple menu, excellent colors, pocketable.
My wife can easily use it and I also do when I'm too lazy to carry around the dslr.
I suppose the other cameras are nice as well, but I can recommend the Canon.

So... I was on vacation and hadn't had a chance to fully unpack yet and someone I was with knocked my camera from the bed to the floor, no idea how. The camera is fine, but the lens that was attached can't seem to autofocus now - it will mostly focus but then continue to whir like it's trying to get a lock. Sometimes it won't focus at all. Is it fucked?

Try another lens on it before writing it off. It could be the lens or the body that's having issues. Lenses and bodies can be repaired. What you'll have to decide is the repair cost worth it or do you just buy a new lens or body.

Oh, I did - it's definitely the lens, not the camera. Luckily it's the $100 50mm prime lens, but still a bummer that it's broken since it's only a few months old. What's weird is that it seems to be working ok most of the time, just whirring a lot when you try to take a photo.

That sucks and repairing a 100 buck lens isn't worth it since the repair cost would most likely be more than that. I guess the good news is it wasn't a 2K Zeiss lens. I wouldn't use the lens since it does have issues. The last thing you want to do is have the problems with the lens cascade and screw up the body.

Good point. Yeah, things could be much worse, and I knew when I bought the thing that it broke easily - just figured I'd be careful. I didn't account for other people breaking my shit, though, lol.

LOL! I always count on other people to break my shit. That's why none of my camera gear is lent out or handed to anyone else. Hell I've had people knock over the tripod in broad daylight. It's like WTF don't you know how to walk?

    Thanks, I'm trying my best.

It's a great place, I wish I had more time there to explore it. I think few years should be enough :)
