You guys have a real liberal definition of "adapted from the military."

interpret as liberally as you'd like. so much of men's fashion has been adapted from military wear: you could reference the ww1 colonel with tall leather boots, the pilot with the oversized ma-1, the guerrilla fighting against techno-fascist big brother in the year 2099, or the 5th century nomadic marauder.

The point of this challenge isn't to be one of those war re-enactment people...

This is very ethnocentric of you. You obviously have not encountered the goth-ninja armies of northern Japan. (10)

Although as a vet, there are very few entries so far that say military to me.

It has nothing to with being ethnocentric. As you have already pointed out I don't see much that's really military based.

as cyc wid it, futuresailors, and el bert have already pointed out, you guys are missing the mark.

contemporary menswear has creatively re-appropriated and re-interpreted many elements from garments that began as military-wear. the point of this challenge, in turn, is to creatively play with that theme. the point is not to dress entirely in actual military garments. that would be boring.

many of the inspiration photos and member fit pics posted above feature re-interpreted versions of the following garments: a-2 bomber jacket, b-3 bomber jacket, m-65 field parka, fishtail parka, n-3b parka, ma-1 jacket, cargo pants, aviator pants, combat boots, patent leather officer shoes, etc.....

less kvetching, more fits.

1 million points go to ghostface for use of the word "kvetching."
