Hey everybody. This is my first post here, I hope I am doing everything the right way!

I am currently on the hunt for a navy/blue suit and I have been looking at a lot of different options. I have narrowed it down to two different options.

Either the La Spalla from SuSu

OR

A Caruso suit I found on Sale. (unfortunately I dont have a link to the precise model

The look of the two suits is very similar, both are single breasted, full canvas, notch lapels.

They differ in two ways. The Suit Supply one comes with side adjusters (which i prefer) and it is also 300usd cheaper. What i dont know is, if there is a difference in the craftmanship big enough, to warrant the price difference and the lack of sideadjusters?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

you want the suit that fits you better. It is unlikely that both fit you equally well. If possible, try both on and keep the one that fits better. Returns to SuSu are free.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Believe it or not, they fit me equally well, they both need to have the sleeves shortened and to be hemmed. They also both have a tiny, tiny bit of lines on the upper back, but it’s very little, so it’s something i can live with.

Both jackets should be fully canvassed. I have two Caruso sportcoats and I really like their construction and fit, but $300 is a significant difference. When you have the trousers hemmed for the Caruso, a tailor might be able to use the excess material (if there's enough) to make side adjusters and then remove the belt loops, but that would add to the price difference.

I have tried on the La Spalla and Jort jackets and I thought they were well made. The SuSu fabric quality on the lower lines can be a bit hit or miss but it's probably decent on the La Spalla.

If $300 is a significant amount of money to you (and it is for most people, including myself) and if the fabric seems to be of similar quality then I'd go for the SuSu. If this is a suit that you're going to be wearing often and the price difference is not a major factor then I'd lean slightly towards the Caruso.

Great advice from breakaway... I second that. Caruso is good quality but I’m not sure I’d pay 300 bucks more for it. Take the one you like best and don’t buy names... that’s a slippery slope ;-)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this great answer, it was just the advice i was looking for. I will be going back to try both today and find the right one for me.

Thanks again!

I ended up going with the Caruso. In the end I felt like the price was justified. It just seemed a notch above in quality and feel. Also i was able to get the jacket and the trousers in different sizes which fit my build better as well.

Thanks for the advice once again!
