All I know is my last name is Mayan... I've never met anyone with my last name, but I have seen it in phone books. Very rare to say the least.

My last name is Italian for "Redhill" or "Red Head".

My mother's, although they're 100% Italian, is Spanish "Dondiego". So back in the 1500s when our family "appears" in the records of the mountain town in Basilicata we're from, we were either Spanish landlords or Spanish Jews hiding from the Inquisition.

Not on the list but I know it's a German term of endearment .. sort of equivalent to "honey" or "sweety" .. literal translation "treasure" as in "my treasure".
