Thanks very much Yika!
Wouldn't it be great if Styleforum, as a group, donated enough for the Corvato sportsjacket, and then we did a little contest to see who got it? And then we documented the process? If you guys are game, we can figure this out, and Styleforum itself, of course, would make a substantial contribution.
Sounds like a good idea to me, Fok.
Vicki, good luck with your film. I enjoyed the trailer.
I think this is a very cool idea, and certainly newsworthy! I'm also going to be adding another perk by Tuesday or Wednesday - a sport jacket from the workshop of master tailor Joe Centofanti. I'm going to be actively promoting these 2 items this coming week, because it would be a big boost for my crowdfunding campaign (which ends in 30 days) so please let me know if you'd like to go forward with this. I think the funds would probably have to be collected by Styleforum (maybe through ChipIn or PayPal) and then donated in a lump sum.
Thank you for the good wishes!
Alright, so, here's the deal then. People who want to contribute to get the Corvato (or maybe Centofanti, depending on who you guys decide on), please send money via Paypal to [email protected], as a gift, and mark with the subject like "Men of the Cloth: Crowdfunding Corvato/Centofanti". If we get within $1000 of the mark, Styleforum will pitch in the rest. We will hold some sort of bizarre contest, in typical Styleforum way, "show us your closet/socks/shoetrees", and the winner (by poll, of course) will get the jacket, and will get to document the process for Styleforum for the rest of us poor guys without Corvato or Centofanti jackets (I say we because admins and mods are no eligible to win). We will all critique his fit, of course. It would not be Styleforum otherwise.
We will do this for 2 weeks." I'm going to tweet it on @styleforumnet. Please help me retweet this thread, and let's get this rolling.
This should be fun.
Here is an interesting pictorial from the 1970s when German tailoring journal Rundschau visited a CDTA meeting in New York. You get to see a younger incarnation of some of the tailors in the film:
He's still about 2x my age! Love the clothes there.
It's really great seeing photos of all those old tailors, especially since many of them are no longer with us. Thank you for sending the link!
Great trailer; I'm excited to see the final product. Will you have DVDs available for purchase after the release?
Thanks for your support! Yes, the DVD will be released in conjunction with our film festival premiere. I'll be sure to keep everyone informed.
I’m excited to report that as a direct result of all the referrals and DIWO (do it with others) activity on our crowdfunding campaign, MEN OF THE CLOTH is now being featured on IndieGoGo’s HOME Page.
With 29 days left in our campaign, we’ve now raised 20 percent of our $20,000 goal!
Thanks again to everyone who has donated. Please continue to spread the word.
