Hello everyone, long-time fan, first-time poster.

    What: Wedding (not mine)
    Where: Roanoke, VA
    When: 1:30 pm, late August

I've come across a lovely seersucker pants/vest combo (dark blue, not ostentatious), but there's no matching jacket for it. Would wearing this combo with a shirt and tie and no jacket be a bit weird for a wedding? I was thinking necktie, not a bow tie. Reason? It's the wedding of my girlfriend's friends. I haven't met them before, so I don't want to be straight peacocking around, but it's going to hot as all hell in Virginny, and I'm a guy who sweats. Any tips, suggestions, etc would be massively appreciated!

A seersucker vest is kind of odd in the first place, as part of the function of the vest in a 3-piece suit is to keep the wearer warm. If you're wearing seersucker, you're looking for the opposite effect. I can't say that I've ever even seen a seersucker vest.

But to answer your main question, yes, I think it's more than a bit weird. Always wear a jacket with a tie, and always wear both to a wedding.

    This.

It amazes me that there is a daily post by someone that claims they've been watching SF for a long time, and then they proceed to ask thoughts on wearing a tie sans coat. Yesterday was the guy wanting to ask opinions on details for a custom vest to wear with a tie and no coat.

Aw shucks, my apologies, Mr. Rack. I have been watching SF for a while but I can't say I get to it everyday, so I missed the relevant thread of which you speak yet to which you did not link.

I must also apologize. You see, I was apparently not bright enough to notice, when reading your initial post, that you despise the thought of doing some minimal amount of work on your own, and that the users on this forum should bow down before you and obey your every demand, even to the point of predicting future demands.

So let me start with this: [IMG]

And the link that you requested in your last post: http://www.styleforum.net/t/301583/what-are-the-rules-for-button-pocket-colors-on-suits

And, before you might think to ask for it, here is a link to a search that I so rudely assumed that you were capable of doing before making your initial post: http://www.styleforum.net/search.ph...=lastupdate&resultSortingPreference=relevance

Once again, my apologies. And I apologize on behalf of my fellow members of this forum who have failed to immediately recognize that they are compelled to respond to your every need.

I see: with your whopping 63 posts and scant three-months worth of membership, you, Sir, must be the Big Dick the swings 'neath SF's legs. Glad to meet you.

I haven't seen a seersucker vest either. But please put on a suit, it's a wedding.

That's the response I've been getting elsewhere, as well. Thanks for the input.

Always dress your best whenever the occasion calls for it. In this case, wear the jacket whenever you're attending a formal event such as a wedding.
