I need some lightweight, light colored socks for summer, preferably something interesting, and preferably cheap. Can anyone recommend a good source? Also, what kind of socks do you wear in the summer? It seems like everything I see is part poly or something like that.

I wear wool blend socks always because they stay drier and cushion better but cotton lisle socks should be 100%. I bought a bunch from Harvie & Hudson and New & Lingwood, and they're really thin and come in a variety of great colours, some with contrast heels/toes. If you put together a relatively large order, the shipping won't hurt as much, and remember VAT gets taken off.

Ben Silver has great patterns frequently on sale, but I've heard mixed things about their quality. Last time I was in the Polo mansion, they had plenty of summer patterns, but I don't know about price.

A TJ Maxx I visited recently was offering Polo pastels for $3 or $4.

Ben Silver cotton socks always give me static cling around the ankles. I avoid them. Kabbaz sells some nice Pantherellas from his site.

Marshalls gets lots of Pantherellas in cotton lisle but I prefer thin merino for hotter weather. It doesn't get clammy. I find that anything in merino but boring colors are pretty rare to find, at least out here.

I mainly wear Ben Silver cotton socks. I've been pretty pleased overall with their durability and their looks. I don't generally have the static-cling issue, though it has happened on occasion.

I am very loyal to Ben b/c I have large feet and it is hard to find sized, OTC socks in interesting patterns.

Marcoliani has some fun merino for about $32. Are there any other options around this price range?

+ 1 on Marcoliani. The best Merinos imo. I have some cotton Pantherella for RJ in summery colors but since I've started wearing wool socks in warm weather, I much prefer them to cotton.

Must be a west coast thing...proximity to the San Andreas fault...I notice no unusual electrical properties of cotton socks from BS. A lot of them are Sozzi Calze, and I don't think they do any sort of electromagnetic treatment of them in Charleston.

Are you pulling our leg?
