Your thread ended early because there is only so much men can say about shorts.

Matty did the right thing by steering things to British colonialism.

I am sorry. I will try harder next time to start a thread that is more to your liking.

Wait a minute - isn't that like a pre-emptive hijack?

I like your thread. It's a nice thread. And you are a very nice man.

How about this: define what you mean by luxurious pair of shorts. Maybe that will get things started again.

Ambrosi makes shorts, as the AntiSocialist mentioned...those are about 7 to 8 bills.

Do you want to spend more or less?

OK well I can't roll with you big-timers and blow 8 bills on shorts.

I'm looking to spend <$150, preferably <$100, and get something in a nice textured cotton or cotton/linen blend, with nice finishing and detailing, e.g. button fly, nice stitching, quality buttons. I've already learned something on the ghurka shorts and with the link you provided earlier. Cargo shorts are nice as long as they're relatively streamlined. You guys have put me on the right track already - was hoping for links to good online sources and perhaps brands I wasn't previously aware of.

Thanks for all the help.

I bought a couple pair of cotton Gurkha shorts from What Price Glory this spring. Here is a photo. But they look a lot better than these. The buckles look much better and they are darker too.

I've been very pleased, especially at the price WPG is offering them at. They were pretty baggy and long and the buckles were too far back. But a tailor fixed that pretty easily for a modest price. This site is probably also a good source for other British colonial paraphernalia.

Borrelli shorts are very nice. not $500 nice, which is what they retail for, but i was able to pick some up at $100 a few weeks ago, some of which i passed on at my cost + shipping to B&S. i believe they have a cargo style and a 'plain' style.

I had a pair that I wore to pieces. Same story on a great old pair from LL Bean but w/ side tabs.

My favorite short are from Patagonia, particularly a hemp pair and a cotton one modeled after WW II GI, very well made, w/ button fly. I just checked their site, and they don't seem to have anything very MC appealing this year. You might try Nau. I have a great pair from them. I'd also second Chorse123's rec of J Crew. Land's End and LL Bean may have something interesting. all of these would be <100.

There's a military surplus store just a few miles away from me that sells brand new ghurka shorts. Nice thick cotton twill. High waisted. And dirt cheap.

I think you should all just get a suit with short trousers.

You people all know you want to get a pith helmet to wear with your new Ghurka shorts.
